This wedding. Vintage yet modern. Classy yet relaxed. Formal, well-dressed, but such a party. This is what you get when two grads from Georgia Tech (my alma mater!) get married right up the street from campus at the Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta. I had the privilege of being Alexis & Colby’s second shooter for their wedding in May, thanks to my talented friend Bri inviting me along to shoot with her. Second shooting has become one of my favorite parts of my job over the years of being a wedding photographer for a few reasons! One—I get to photograph more weddings and that is my happy place! But two—I love working alongside some of the most incredibly creative and talented people that I also get to call my friends in this crazy wedding photography world. Bri, along with a bunch of other photographers I’ve been able to work with over the years, trusted me with her own clients to capture the beauty of their day and I don’t take that for granted!
I started with the guys at Colby’s parent’s house, photographing them hanging out and attempting to put on their bowties. Colby sitting on his dad’s bike may just be one of my favorite groom portraits ever. We all headed to Virginia-Highland Church for the ceremony where I got to meet Alexis and her bridesmaids. Her dress was amazing! Such a vintage dream. Moments after their ceremony ended as all their guests were leaving to travel to the reception, it started pouring rain! One of those Atlanta thunderstorms that comes unexpectedly and lingers for just an hour or so. Thankfully, Alexis and Colby made it to the Biltmore Ballrooms without getting drenched and their reception was amazing. A few of my favorite moments from their reception included the macaron tower, the southern comfort food for dinner, their wardrobe change in the middle of dancing, and Georgia Tech’s mascot surprising everyone at the end of the night.
