If this girl looks familiar, then that’s because this is my third time having her in front of my camera! Meet Ari, my friend, my past bride, and now my fall intern! I’m so excited that timing and locations worked out in such a way that led to Ari joining my team for my fall wedding season. She just got married in August to Jaylon (see their engagement session here, blog post of their wedding coming soon!) and moved from Texas to Atlanta to start their newlywed life. Now, she’s adjusting to a new city and a new job with me! So grateful for her and excited to share introduce her to you all!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are in life right now.
Right now, I am newly married and I just moved here to Georgia from Texas. So I’m kind of graciously all over the place, trying to catch my balance! I am 24 and a dog-mom to the cutest dog ever named Roman. My day to day looks a lot like unpacking boxes, multiple trips to Target and Bed, Bath Beyond, and binge watching the heck out of Jane the Virgin, again. I’m also very into rewatching movies and shows a bunch of times. In a nutshell, I’m an introvert who is addicted to Lifesaver Mints, loves Jesus, and is trying to be the best Beyonce I can.
Where are you from?
Copperas Cove, Tx (military town located outside of Ft. Hood)
What attracted you to apply for this internship?
Kiyah being a boss-woman. She could sell me anything. Who wouldn’t want to learn from her?
What do you love about photography?
I love that with photography, moments can be captured in an instant! I’m not a photographer myself but it’s always fun reliving and remembering moments through photos.
What are you passionate about?
I’m always stumped over this question because I never know! I’m highly interested and invested in a lot of things but I’m not sure if I’d label any one thing a passion.
What are some small things that make your day better?
Lighting my favorite candle, being in bed early, my dog wagging his tail, walking into a clean house, making my bed, random love notes or gestures, etc. etc. etc.
What’s the last adventure you went on?
My entire honeymoon was an adventure. We were in Italy for 10 days and probably walked at least 20 miles uphill while stopping to take photos. It was an exhausting blast and I’d do it all over again but with less luggage to haul around.
What is your favorite book?
I’m not an avid reader but the book that I reach for most often is my Bible.
What is your ice cream flavor?
Brown Butter Almond Brittle by JENI’S ICE CREAM! And also, Pistachio ice cream but only if it’s made by Blue Bell. The other brands miss the mark every time.
What is something that few people know about you?
That my maiden name, Garcia, is not because I’m Mexican but because I have some Cuban running through my veins! This is important because now I’m a Jenkins so no one will ask me about being a Garcia but I’ve always been proud of “not looking like” your average Garcia 🙂
What three things would you do on a “me” day?
Style my hair, maybe post a cute Insta pic, and do my nails!
What are you excited about in the next 12 months?
Finding my rhythms as an Atlien (resident of Atlanta), a wife, a long distance, yet intentional friend. It will be exciting to learn how to balance being a first year wife while living in a new state!
Are you a morning person or night owl?
Night owl allllll day… or night.
What was your favorite moment from your own wedding day?
Exchanging vows! Specifically hearing my husbands’ vows. He has always had a way with words but I love hearing his words about me.
If you were given $100 and you had to spend it on yourself, how would you spend it?
Easy. Options would be: mani/pedi, go on a shopping spree in Target then go to the Mall too, eat at Upbeet, and buy a new phone case. If I add in some of my money with it, I can maybe do all of these things.
