In my opinion, fall is the perfect time of year for a Washington DC engagement session. In September and October, DC is saying goodbye to its summer heat and humidity, so the cool, crisp air is on its way. You don’t have to worry about spring allergies, and the autumn leaves are so vibrant and beautiful! It only made sense for Indy and Jason to take advantage of the fall for their October DC engagement session.
I connected with Indy and Jason through Instagram last year right at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. They got engaged the November before in the coolest way: Jason proposed while they were on a trip at a Getaway Cabin! We bonded pretty quickly over our mutual love for Getaway among other things, and I knew I lucked out in becoming their wedding photographer! This October, they’ll be getting married at The Anderson House in DC with planning by Simply Breathe Events. I know it’s going to be an incredible celebration because Indy and Jason are an extremely fun-loving, warm, and inviting couple.
Indy and Jason wanted three locations so that their three looks had unique backdrops. We started with a casual date night look walking around their neighborhood in the heart of the city. She and Jason are native New Yorkers and moved to DC, so they aren’t new to bustling city life at all. Don’t these rowhomes almost look like New York City? After a quick outfit change, we made our way to the National Gallery of Art. I love that the gallery is right between The Capitol and the Washington Monument. Their classy outfit choices paired perfectly with the outside of the art gallery. For their final look and location, we made our way to the Andrew Mellon Auditorium. The setting sun gave a romantic golden glow as Indy and Jason cuddled, flirted, and showed off their stylish looks.
Thanks to Indy and Jason, I’m now a big fan of couples incorporating three outfits into engagement portraits! Which of theirs is your favorite?
