On a Thursday afternoon, I met with Shreya & Kaushal in their neck of the woods–New York City–for their West Village engagement session. This lovely couple is living the NYC life and has been together since meeting at a holiday party in 2015. Like many New Yorkers, they are foodies! They enjoy spending time eating at new places and wandering aimlessly throughout the city. During one of their favorite dates, Kaushal got last-minute reservations to L’artusi and they went dancing afterward. Years later, he proposed at Washington Square Park and they celebrated at the same restaurant afterward.
New York City is special to Shreya and Kaushal, so it only made sense to document their love here. New York City is truly a photographer’s playground! I loved getting the chance to escape to the Big Apple for a few days and meet with them in their own backyard. We started their West Village engagement session on NYU’s campus on a cute cobblestone street called Washington Mews. Next, we revisited Washington Square Park and the arch where they got engaged. For the rest of our time, I followed their lead, wandering through the West Village toward 6th Ave and Bleecker Street. You would never know that it downpoured just minutes before we started shooting. Shreya & Kaushal envisioned a fun, light-hearted, and sweet engagement session full of laughter and in-between moments. I especially loved finishing off our time with a single roll of 35mm black and white film. S&K will be getting married this week in Atlanta and I’m excited to photograph their 3-day celebration!
